Federal support for Whitfords Nodes Health and Wellbeing Hub

Support for the proposed Health and Wellbeing Hub at Whitfords Nodes Park in Hillarys is gaining momentum with Federal Member for Moore, Ian Goodenough MP, throwing his weight behind the project.

“We are fortunate enough to live along a remarkable stretch of coastline and this project will provide an opportunity for locals to enjoy it while improving their overall health and wellbeing,” Mr Goodenough said.

The project, which includes a Jacob’s Ladder style staircase and lookout, fitness equipment, running tracks and upgraded play equipment is expected to cost approximately $2 million to complete.

The City of Joondalup has allocated funding towards the project in its 2018/19 Five Year Capital Works Budget, with the hope of securing the remainder through successful grant applications to both Lottery West and the Federal Government.

“I have spoken with the Minister for Sport, Senator Bridget Mckenzie to support the City of Joondalup’s funding application via the Community Sport Infrastructure Program (CSI).”

“The City is eligible for $500,000 through the program, which is focused on upgrading facilities that help build participation in physical activity, community partnerships and inclusiveness.”

“I have highlighted to the Minister the Health and wellness benefits this project provides while building community spirit in the local area.”
