Member for Moore, Ian Goodenough is fighting for the relocation of the RSL War Memorial at the Ocean Reef Marina.
The construction work at the Marina has made it necessary to relocate the Anzac Memorial Arch to a permanent and more prominent site.
“When I stood to represent our community in 2014, I pledged to always honour our national heritage” Mr Goodenough said.
“Eight years ago, our community needed a new memorial where we could honour over a century of service and sacrifice. In Government, I delivered federal funding as part of the Centenary of Anzac, to make that need a reality.”
“Anzac Day 2022 will be our community’s final opportunity to gather and reflect at the current site of our Memorial.
Attorney General, Senator Michaelia Cash said that she was pleased to meet onsite with members of the Joondalup City RSL and see the progress of the Marina.
“The Ocean Reef Memorial is located in a unique place. The uninterrupted ocean vista provides the perfect place for reflective contemplation of the sacrifices made by Australian veterans to secure our freedoms.”
Joondalup City RSL President, Rick Green said the Joondalup City RSL community were hopeful of finding a new home for their treasured memorial.
“The new site will provide a permanent place to reflect and to remember the sacrifices that were made”
