Budget 2021

Australia has come a long way over the last year.

All Australians can be proud of the role they have played.

Around the world, there are currently around 800,000 new cases of COVID-19 per day.

Here in Australia, this scale of tragedy has been avoided.

Australia now has over 74,000 more people in jobs than we had pre-COVID.

This makes Australia the first advanced economy to have more people employed than pre-COVID-19.

The pandemic is still far from over. There are many Australians doing it tough.

However, the Government's plan is working.

What the Budget means nationally:

This year's Budget is about securing our recovery and building for our future. It includes:

  1. Further Tax Relief for Over 10 million Low and Middle-Income Earners - to reward hard work and stimulate spending through our economy.

  2. Record Investment in Skills and Training - including 450,000 JobTrainer places and wage subsidies to support 170,000 new apprentices and trainees.

  3. Expanded Instant Asset Write Off - to help businesses invest in the local economy and create local jobs.

  4. Expanding the First Home Super Saver Scheme - helping 10,000 more first home buyers build a home with 5% deposit and 10,000 single parents purchase a home with a 2% deposit.

  5. $17.7 Billion to Improve Aged Care - including another 80,000 new home care packages.

  6. Increasing the Affordability of Childcare - 250,000 families will be better off by an average of $2,200 each year.

  7. $486 Million in Environmental Spending - including $100 million to commit to a sustainable ocean economy.

  8. Record Funding for Schools, Hospitals, Women's Safety and Disability Support

What the Budget means locally:

Tax relief for hardworking Moore residents. The decision to extend the low and middle income tax offset and bring forward Stage 2 of the Government's tax relief plan means 58,300 taxpayers in Moore will benefit from a tax relief of up to $2,745 this year.

Major investment in major road and rail projects, road safety, and community infrastructure projects. $1.6 billlion is being committed to WA to support our economic recovery to ease congestion, connect communities, and improve safety on our roads. This investment helps connect Joondalup with the growing northern coastal suburbs, with 70,000 new residents over the next 9 years in the Alkimos-Yanchep region.

An extended and expanded JobTrainer will support 500,000 new places to upskill jobseekers. Moore already has 780 apprentices and these new measures will lead to more opportunities for apprentices and trainees with expanded wage subsidies.

Improved aged care and childcare. This budget delivers record investment in aged care to help 18,877 senior Australians living in Moore, delivering more home care places and funding for residential aged care. Childcare is now more affordable and accessible, benefitting over 1,320 families in Moore.

Working for Western Australia

My WA Liberal colleagues and I have always worked together to secure a fairer share of funding for our State. This year's Budget includes:

  • Western Australian will be supported by the Morrison Government receiving $13.2 billion in Commonwealth payments in 2021-22

  • GST payments to WA are estimated to be $3.2 billion in 2021-22 plus a $2.1 billion transitional GST top-up payment.

  • Health and Hospital funding is estimated to be $2.8 billion in 2021-22, including $42.7 million for the COVID-19 public health response.

  • Education and skills in WA is estimated to be $2.8 billion in 2021-22, including $2.5 billion for Quality Schools.

COVID-19 is still far from over. However, Australia is on the road to recovery.

This budget is about securing our recovery, so we can come back stronger, and with your continued support, I am committed to Always Working for Moore.
